Think about it.

We are perpetually expanding our economic activities on a planet with finite resources. That is a seriously flawed strategy!

I did not think that my generation would have to confront the fact that this cannot continue indefinitely. It is certainly my desire to continue to expand and grow. But it is becoming clear that we are starting to run up against some of the limits to growth.

This awareness informs my thinking, but for now, we are not focused on economic sustainability as an area of research. We believe that if we succeed in finding solutions to the social and environmental issues that face us, we will open a door to a new, better way to think of economic sustainability.

For now we have to believe that changing perspectives on environmental and social issues will be our largest contribution to economic sustainability.
